Day of Reflection     8 March 2026

what is the day of reflection?

The Day of Reflection is a moment for the country to come together to remember more than 230,000 people who have died since the start of the Covid pandemic, one of the deadliest tragedies in our history. It exists to honour those we lost, to recognise the profound impact of the pandemic on bereaved families and communities, and to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many.

Recommended by the UK Commission on Covid Commemoration following consultation with those most affected, including bereaved families, the Day of Reflection creates space for remembrance, solidarity and truth. We continue to mark it each year so that the lives lost are not forgotten and the lessons of this period are not ignored.

The next day of reflection will take place on Sunday 8th March 2026.
