Module 3: Our Recommendations

Module 3 goes to the heart of what so many of our members lived through.

The evidence heard by the Inquiry showed a health service that entered the pandemic already overstretched and underprepared. Years of austerity left the NHS without the capacity and resilience needed to cope with a major crisis.

The inquiry also heard evidence of devastating experiences, including the use of DNACPR notices without proper consultation, failures in NHS 111, and failures to act on key warnings, including on airborne transmission and protecting healthcare workers.

This report must be clear about what went wrong and what action must be taken now to save lives when the next crisis hits.

We have set out our recommendations in full here.
